In the first project Mary strives to achieve order out of the visual chaos
of a garage sale. She uses a view finder to isolate her subject and proceeds
to simplify the objects into more basic shapes.
After a simple drawing, she layers texture, color and finally line to complete her piece.
Mary then discusses a few concepts to improve her painting and makes adjustments.
In her second project, An Inward Look, Mary's focus is more contemporary
and conceptual. She encourages you to use your personal symbol and favorite
shapes to create meaning in our work. She uses employs gesso and employs a
few innovative techniques to create shadow like images in a strata design.
Her goal is drama and visual impact.
Mary's workshop is low pressure, fun and a wonderful way to explore
personal creativity.
**Part 1 (42 min.) of this DVD workshop is a re-release of a previous Beam
workshop of the same name. It has been re-edited and color corrected.
**Part 2 (57 min.) is a new project that has never been on DVD before.
