"Shop Talking"
by Nancy Standlee
Media: Acrylic and oil pastel on paper mounted on gallery wrapped canvas
Dimensions: 20" x 20"
Description:
My treasures will always include a lipstick, some perfume and a purse, handbag, or more likely a backpack to hold more treasures. "Shop Talking" shows two women in front of a cosmetics counter where we see lipstick, nail polish, and perfume displayed. The seasoned shopper warrior looks to her right to see what wonderful delights await and clutches a price tag to prove her purchase was on sale. Their purses are near and a shopping bag to hold the overflow. The Star shopper with the Star tattoo thinks that the next trip should be spent looking for the perfect purse, which is a never ending treasure quest in itself. This painting is the 2nd in a series of "Talking" paintings. The first one was "Trash Talking" and for me and my friends being able to talk and share our love of painting is a treasure along with our lipstick and handbags.
Juror Comments:
Shop Talking The composition is strong, but the enchantment is what sets it apart. What a delightful piece!
