Kwan Jung's art is direct, lyrical and poetic.
He takes only a brief moment to create a universe on paper, a brief moment
that arises out of a lifetime of patient practice and centuries of tradition.
The serenity of his personality is reflected in his work.
Kwan grew up and received his art training in Southern China, graduated
from New Asia College, the Chinese University of Hong Kong with a B. A. degree
in painting in 1961. He married Yee Wah Yip, also an artist, in 1962. They
moved to San Diego, California in 1963 and made San Diego their hometown
since. An award winning artist and teacher and author of the book "Chinese
Brush Painting" (North
Light Books), Kwan is best known for portraits and landscapes.
Kwan filmed this instructional video in the Creative Catalyst Productions
studio and the popular video has now been released on DVD.
