I am a High School Art Teacher and Artist that works with a large variety of media in the studio.

From many years of scavenging art supplies to use with high school kids, I have learned to see the world as possible art making tools. I never stop learning and sharing about art. I am so glad to have found such a great site. Thank you for inspiring all of us out here in the wide, wide world! (3-10-06) Suzette M.

"The DVD is awesome and I have already used many of the great tips and suggestions.  Super job and also fun to watch.  Over 3 hours and one of the best I have seen."

Your Opinion Counts

It has been suggested that we consider charging a nominal entry fee of $3-$5 to be used as follows:

New Art Show System

Half of the entry fee would be used to develop a new online art show system that enables you to more easily enter your images and information. All entries would instantly appear in the show along with your contact information and description.Jurors would have access to the entries so that it is easier for them to judge the show.Juror's comments would appear instantly so everyone can learn more from the process. With a more automated system we could increase the number of shows we sponsor online. For example we could host shows for various age groups and media or have multiple shows going at one time.

Funding a Scholarship

Half of the entry fee would fund a workshop scholarship. All art show entrant's names would go into a hat and one would be drawn to receive a scholarship to an art workshop of their choice. The scholarship could be used for tuition and travel.

Please send us your thoughts about this.

CCP Teacher Core

Classroom teachers are working with Creative Catalyst to create a system for cataloging our videos and DVDs so that teachers can easily find video resources that fit the art lessons they are presenting in their classrooms.

If you have seen and used other systems that have helped you efficiently find art resources such as books, videos, dvds, lesson plans, etc, please let us know what these are and how to find them. Send your suggestions to:

AWS, NWS First Place Winner John Salminen uses the gentle coverage of a mouth atomizer to darken complex areas without disturbing the underlayment of pigment. In doing so he is able to control subtle value relationships over large areas as seen in his city scapes and non-objective paintings.

We pay attention to ALL your comments and suggestions.

Customer: I'm writing regarding [artist's name] entering your fall contest and being announced as a winner. I do not think it is fair that an instructor who is selling a book and video/DVD [ "book title"] ... should be competing against the very artists who have purchased her instruction video/DVD and book. I just purchased a DVD from you but will not purchase anymore from you until you change your contest rules. - CS-

Hi CS,

Thank you for taking the time to write to us regarding the Creative Catalyst Art Show. First let me clarify that we do restrict artists who have filmed with Creative Catalyst from entering the art show. The artist in question was an independent person.

More than one artist has raised the issue of mixing skill levels in the same art show.  We have given a lot of thought to this issue and have concluded that, at this point, there are more positives in this approach than negatives.
