SUSAN BOURDET is a working artist. She is a popular Audubon print artist, author and teacher.
	Susan has a degree in biology and art and loves photographing wildlife in her home state of Oregon. She also is the author of two books, *THE ALLURE OF NATURE* and CAPTURING THE MAGIC OF LIGHT in Watercolor (available at Creative Catalyst). Susan has produced the"Songbirds of America" calendar every year, many wildlife related greeting cards and numerous prints for Wild Wings Press. She teaches workshops across the country and her originals are in high demand by collectors. Susan said she did not find her genre until attending a children’s book
illustration convention in Salem Oregon. There she met a wildlife illustrator who saw her work and encouraged her to pursue her love of wildlife. Susan found a support group, The Wildlife Art Guild, and "the rest is history". She encourages people to do what they love and her stated goal is to remind people of the beauty and fragility of nature.


	Susan Bourdet’s second Creative Catalyst video workshop, *Inspiration From the Garden* is similarly packed with information and techniques. In this film she chooses a family pet for her subject. You progress with her as she combines elements to create a pleasing design and adjusts lighting to create unity. Susan creates a rich, smooth background, then tackles each part of her painting using a variety of techniques to create her realistic results. Susan uses a limited palette and salt on her rust covered sprinkling can, a combination of wet-into-wet and dry brush to create a convincing coat of fur and floats colors for her flowers. She shares some very handy tips on how to use masking fluid. With Susan, you learn to systematically tackle complicated natural settings for charming results. The workshop is approximately 112 minutes and is available in both DVD and VHS.
Susan has filmed two video/DVD workshops with Creative Catalyst Productions. The first, Bold and Beautiful, Backyard Wildlife in Watercolor is really four workshops in one. In it you get a quick visit to Susan’s backyard and see what she has done to attract wildlife. Then you visit her studio and see how she organizes her reference materials for easy retrieval. Susan then walks you through the elements she considers when putting a nature subject together. You get a thorough workshop on the techniques that Susan has found that work best for her to achieve 1) luminous smooth backgrounds, 2) textured wood grain, 3) a soft yet strong life-like bird, and 4) fresh convincing flowers and leaves. This workshop is content-rich (75 min) and is available in both VHS and DVD.
