Chee’s hopes to produce paintings that will be neither East nor West, realism nor abstraction, but contain all elements that communicate on a universal and timeless level. Subject: "Vibrant Orchid" CD
I want to thank you (Ann Pember) and Creative Catalyst for producing the "Vibrant Orchid" CD...it is the absolute best level of quality...the very BEST. The reason I know is because I also just purchased a video from another artist and it is so out of focus and blurry, not to mention that the lighting was atrocious and no zooming in close where you could actually see how the watercolor pigment was actually being applied to the paper surface. It is actually worthless.
Your work is gorgeous and the style of your presentation is wonderful. I am so thrilled with this CD and I hope you and CCP produce another please. Seeing this one makes me want more, I really feel like I have gained so much knowledge and confidence from this CD, it is so far and above any other I have had before.
Thanks so much,
M. Laird

Need practice drawing? Try recording sporting events or nature shows then playing it back and using the pause button to hold images still for a quick sketch. Better still, if you can record to a DVD your still image will be clearer.

This is a rare opportunity to meet a man who has been described by people who know him as "A Modern Day Master," a "Complete Artist."
Chee has dedicated his life to the excellent expression of the synthesis between his inner vision and outer world, which he feels is the source of ART. In tape one, Chee discusses his Taoist philosophy and how it has influenced the development of his five distinctive styles (the subjects of tapes two through six) each suited to most effortlessly express Chee’s feelings towards each particular subject.
The “underpinnings” of all his techniques reside in his philosophy. Volume one includes Chee describing his artistic principles and collecting resource materials (“It’s like having money in the bank!”). He describes each of his styles and presents beautiful examples of each. He discusses the responsibilities of being a teacher; consistency; personal goals; mentors; criteria for judging; handling rejection, and so very much more!

In the first “technique” film, "The Traditional Watercolor Approach", Chee paints an active street scene. The first half of the film discusses creating the scene using combined reference materials, developing and transferring the painting on to the large size paper, expressing emotional content, use of strong color and brush work, blocking in large areas and working toward detail.
In the second half Chee analyzes his painting and makes unbelievable adjustments to create a cohesive, strong design with activity and atmosphere. He explains his rationale for each of his actions. To put it another way, Chee uses his heart in the first half of the film and his mind in the second half. (1 hr. 45 min.)
