Betty Carr (continued)
Born and raised in Santa Cruz, CA, Betty Carr’s
love for art developed from visiting museums. She earned her M.F.A. from San
Jose State University and has established herself as a distinguished artist
and instructor in sculpture and painting.
Betty and her husband, landscape painter Howard Carr, travel the West Coast
several months of each year to teach artist workshops from their specially-equipped
mobile home. She has been featured in numerous publications including American Artist, Art of the West, Art Talk, Southwest Art, and Vitality magazines. Her work can be found in numerous books, including her latest Seeing the Light: An Artists' Guide. Betty is also former signature member of the exclusive Knickerbocker Artists, USA of New York City.
Betty Carr captures multiple dimensions of light and shadows
in her vivid watercolor paintings of still-life and landscapes. Thinking like an oil
painter and sculptor, Betty "carves" depth out of her painting and uses
expressive "dancing" brushwork. Her floral paintings have received multiple
juried awards and Betty has served as a juror for numerous regional and national art
exhibitions. Betty strives to capture the subtle and dramatic effects of light in various
unique situations and composes vibrant paintings using enthusiastic brushwork and intense
colors.
