Water Media Techniques: Acrylic and Casein

Acrylics and casein are both water-based paints, and have some similarities, but can be used very differently, alone or in conjunction. Stephen Quiller demonstrates how both media can be used to create transparent and opaque washes, Impasto textures, and other special effects. He travels to one of his favorite locations to create a preliminary painting, and later returns to the studio to complete a beautifully simple work using acrylics and casein to “make the painting sing.”
