LEARN MAGIC HERE! - by Connie Michael from Fort Worth, TX US
|
If you are fascinated by how the magician pulls a rabbit from a hat, just wait until you see the magic of Carrie Burns Brown as she creates beautiful collage from hand painted and textured papers. While the on-stage magician is masterful in keeping secrets, Carrie Burns has a gift for sharing hers.
Whether you are a professional artist or a home crafter, whether you create your art in a studio or a kitchen, or if you just like knowing “how to”, this workshop is for you. You really have to see it to believe it!
This workshop was born from Carrie’s discovery that the beautifully colored papers she had collected from around the world to use in her artwork had one thing in common. They faded! Unwilling to accept that she had to use materials that wouldn’t stand the test of time, Carrie set out to learn how to create and design her own papers that were light fast and would be beautiful for years to come.
A born teacher, Carrie leaves nothing out as she walks you through the staining and decorating process.
Do you love tropical colors or the look and feel of leather? Carrie shows you how to recreate them. Do you save string (we won’t tell) ... or drink coffee? You will be amazed when you see what she does with both.
Step-by-step, Carrie explains what supplies you need, and how to use them. She shows you how to mix your paint (with plain old tap water) to the consistency of skim milk, then transform the tissue by painting, dripping, splattering and rolling. You will learn to create texture with items from your home, including stamps of your own design (made from mat board), wallpaper, spools of thread and velcro hair rollers.
Equally important to the process is the element of design. Carrie shows you how she starts her own projects with a “grid” and then experiments with the design and color by moving things around, placing curves where there aren’t any, adding an additional texture, or a new color - or both. At this point in your own project, she then encourages you to step back and let your intuitive artist take over and decide what works and what doesn’t. Only you will know.
By the end of this really creative workshop you will know how to take paint, tissue paper, water, gesso, and string, mix it with your imagination and make .... well, you knew it was coming ... magic!

This will add vibrancy to my work - by Jean H. from El Paso, TX

I have been making collages for years, but this video seems like it will affirm what I have been doing and teach me new techniques and add a vibrancy to my work. I expect it to improve the overall quality of my collages and help me overcome the old criticism that collage is not really a fine art form.

THANKS, MUCH! - by Linda "Mimi" V. from Washington

THANKS, MUCH! I stayed up last night till 1:30 a.m. watching the Carrie Burns Brown, "Water Media Collage Workshop." and it's the third time I've watched it. Even though I've been working for some time with most of the materials that Carrie uses, just watching her techniques and listening to her advice is a bargain. And, I get to do so in my own home whenever I feel like it. I love her DVD and am grateful to CCP for your growing stock of workshops to choose from. MIMI

BEST sources of inspiration that I have seen for a long, long time!! - by Kathy W. from www.alteredantiquity.com

I just purchased and received Carrie Burns Brown's "Water Media Collage Workshop" DVD through CCP. As a collage artist, I found this to be one of the BEST sources of inspiration that I have seen for a long, long time!! Often times videos will just rush through the technique and focus on the finished results, but Carrie explained everything that she demonstrated in full detail.
I learned so much from this video, including her wonderful introduction how how she achieved the shades and tints that she uses. I also loved that the video actually "noted" on the screen the names of all of the products that she used, which made it perfect for taking down the information without a question of how she achieved those wonderful looks! I can't say enough about this video.
She really makes the viewer feel that she is there to teach them, not just to sell a video. It makes me want to get right to work trying out some of these new techniques.
