Good video - by Alessandro Brunelli from Chiasso, Switzerland

This is a good movie for advanced artists as stated (e.g. it supposes you know the centre of interest of a painting, so the rules of composition). The workshop is a complex exercise from memory (not from a picture or from real life) and it guides you gradually to the final painting (a winter landscape with a barn a tree) in two different styles: with a blue (cold) and yellow(warm) undercoating. The palette is just the three primary colors + white + pyrrole red. The painting is done in thin layers. Hugh teaches lots of tricks using his "special" straight edge, a ruling pen, foam brushes, an old brush for making branches, 1/4'', 1/8'' synthetic flat brushes mainly for the rest of the painting and Q-tips with alcool to achieve realistic lighting effects. This later trick I particularly enjoyed. Also the glazing technique is well shown and well explained to make you understand what is the effect wanted. A good video.
